Bristol Armed Forces Breakfast April 2023

11.04.2023

Commanding Officer 39th Signal Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Sarah Trevelion, and Alistair Roxburgh the Armed Forces Champion at Atkins in Bristol (and Wx RFCA Regional Employer Engagement Group’s Bristol sub group lead) hosted a group of employers on site on Thursday 30 March to highlight the benefits of supporting Defence People through the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC), especially Reservists, and the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) that recognises those organisations who demonstrate that support.

Jon Beake, one of Defence Relationship Management’s Regional Employer Engagement Directors gave an overview of the AFC & ERS, while Sarah ably explained and demonstrated the flexibility Reserve Service demands and how the support of her employer, Techmodal, was imperative to her successful Reserve career.

Several members of the Atkins team also explained how they had delivered support across the Armed Forces community but especially Reservists and two of them were able to corroborate this as serving Officers in the Army Reserve and Royal Air Force Reserve.

Around twenty Bristol based business representatives attended, enjoyed a posh breakfast created by Reservist chefs from 39th Signal Regiment, were updated on all things AFC & Reserve, ably assisted by representatives from 7th Military Intelligence Battalion and 6th Battalion The Rifles, two of the other South West based Army Reserve Units.
