At a special ceremony held at the headquarters of 505 Wessex Squadron RAuxAF at RAF St Mawgan, three exceptional young individuals were appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho. This prestigious role is one of the highest honours within the cadet forces and is awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding leadership, dedication, and service within their units.
The newly appointed Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets are:
- Cadet Serjeant Chloe McCarthy – Cornwall Army Cadet Force
- Cadet Sergeant Chantelle Tatum-Curtis – Plymouth and Cornwall Wing, Royal Air Force Air Cadets
- Leading Cadet Chris Wooller – Torpoint Sea Cadets
These young leaders were selected for their exemplary commitment to their cadet forces and for their positive impact on their communities. As Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets, they will assist the Lord Lieutenant at a variety of official engagements throughout the year, including ceremonial and civic events across Cornwall. Their duties may involve supporting official visits and representing Cornwall’s youth at significant local and national occasions.
In his address at the investiture, the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, praised the recipients for their exceptional achievements, noting:
“You listen to the citations and see the people who have got an award and you realise the brilliance there is going on in the world, all down to people who are prepared to give up their time to help others and to make Cornwall a better place. Thank you very much indeed to all the award winners.”
