New Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets Appointed at Special Ceremony in Gloucestershire

At a prestigious ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess at Imjin Barracks, Innsworth, five exceptional young individuals were appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Edward Gillespie. This distinguished appointment is one of the highest honours within the cadet forces, awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding leadership, dedication, and service within their units.

The newly appointed Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets are:

Cadet Warrant Officer Lauren Collingwood, Pate’s Grammar School,

Cadet Warrant Officer Charlotte Bodenham, 2419 (Quedgeley) Squadron

Cadet Sergeant Major Cassia Thurston, Pate’s Grammar School

Cadet Corporal Max Burns, Tewkesbury Army Cadets

Cadet Lance Corporal Yovan Obucina Gurung, The Crypt Grammar School

These remarkable young leaders were selected for their exemplary commitment to their cadet forces, as well as the positive impact they have made within their local communities. As Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets, they will have the privilege of assisting the Lord Lieutenant at various official engagements throughout the year, including ceremonial and civic events across Gloucestershire. Their duties will include supporting official visits and representing the youth of Gloucestershire at key local and national occasions.

In his address at the investiture, the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Edward Gillespie, commended the recipients for their exceptional achievements. He remarked:

“My congratulations and thanks to everyone who is being celebrated this evening…it gives you an idea of the scope of what is going on in the county.

“I am aware that week in and week out so much goes on in the county to encourage and inspire young people, so thank you and congratulations.”

The Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet appointment marks the beginning of an exciting and memorable year for these five young leaders. It offers them a unique opportunity to represent their peers across the county, gain valuable experience, and further develop their leadership skills in service to their community.
