02.10.2024

In a formal ceremony held on Tuesday 1st October, at County Hall, Exeter, four exceptional young Cadets were officially invested as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for Devon. The prestigious annual appointment recognises their outstanding contributions, leadership, and dedication within their respective Cadet forces. This year’s Cadets were honoured alongside Reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and local employers who were recognised for their extraordinary service and support to Defence.

The newly appointed Cadets include: Able Cadet Sothea Kasparis, recognised for her confident leadership and dedication within the Sea Cadets; Cadet Sergeant Billy Draper, praised for his discipline and exemplary standards in the Army Cadet Force; Cadet Sergeant Giles Pahdi of the Air Cadets, who has shown outstanding achievements in both his Cadet career and physical challenges like the Ten Tors; and Cadet Sergeant Jack Benzie, whose ambition and attention to detail have made him a standout at 197 (Devonport) Squadron.

These Cadets will assist the Lord-Lieutenant of Devon at official engagements throughout the year, serving as ambassadors for the Cadet Forces.

Alongside the Cadet investiture, Reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and local employers were also recognised. Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service were awarded to those who have gone above and beyond in supporting and mentoring young people. Employers who support Defence personnel, particularly Reservists, received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Awards.
The Lord-Lieutenant praised all the awardees, highlighting their contributions to both the Armed Forces and the broader community.
