05.09.2024

Recently work has been carried out on the installation of eight modular units which will become the new Joint Cadet Centre (JCC) for Keynsham Army Cadet Force Detachment and 2385 (Keynsham) Squadron, RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC).

The previous cadet centre was demolished as part of the work to create the new build garages and store for 101 Battalion REME and 243 Multi-role Medical Regiment, under the Future Reserve 2020 programme.

The new cadet centre has been jointly funded by RAFAC and Wessex RFCA. Work now continues to install the roof and cladding and commence internal fit out.

The building is designed to meet BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) standard excellent on following for stages; 1) Survey 2) Design 3) Construction 4) Occupation.

The Project Architects are Askew Cavanna (Bristol), Quantity Surveyors are Holloway Squires Partnership, Mechanical and Electrical consultants are Houghton Greenlees and the main contractor is Elite Systems GB.

Keynsham Army Reserve Centre has provided excellent on-site support for the build and the project team and the new JCC will be the culmination of a busy few years of construction and investment into the site.
