Last night, the Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mr Michael Dooley LVO MMs FRCOG, proudly hosted the annual Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset Awards ceremony at Thomas Hardy School, celebrating the remarkable contributions of young people and adult volunteers in the community.
Five outstanding young individuals were invested as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for the forthcoming year. The newly appointed cadets, who exemplify leadership, dedication, and community spirit, are:
- Leading Cadet Katie Sadler from Portland Sea Cadets
- Leading Cadet Freya Kay from Poole Sea Cadets
- Cadet Flight Sergeant William Christian from Thomas Hardye School Combined Cadet Force
- Cadet Sergeant James Buik from Dorset Army Cadet Force
- Cadet Flight Sergeant Charlie Burroughs from 171 (Christchurch) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets
In addition to the cadet investitures, the ceremony recognised the invaluable contributions of adult volunteers within the Reserve and Cadet Forces. Certificates of Meritorious Service were presented to several individuals for their outstanding service, while others received accolades for their long-standing commitment.
The RNLI was also acknowledged for its exemplary support of the armed forces, receiving the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award, highlighting the organisation’s dedication to veterans and service members.
The ceremony, attended by family, friends, and community leaders, served as a poignant reminder of the positive impact these young leaders and dedicated volunteers have on Dorset.
